How it all began
Reclaimed World is a family business founded on the dreams of a young couple, Jeff and Gina.
In 1978, Jeff and Gina started a small market stall selling women’s clothes in Liverpool. Together they have spent their whole married life in partnership, creating women’s and children’s fashion stores in Liverpool and Chester.
Jeff and Gina went on to build their very own department store on Bold Street in Liverpool, winning Independent Retailer of the year and Womenswear Retailer of the Year Award in 2002.
After retiring in his late 50s, Jeff soon realised relaxing and playing golf wasn’t for him, so he embarked on a new venture and Reclaimed World was born! Jeff and Gina’s passion for reclaimed and salvaged materials began when transforming their shops and properties.
Jeff and Gina jumped at the chance to acquire the three-acre site on which Reclaimed World can be found today. The former plant nursery was a far cry from the Reclaimed World you see now, with just one small derelict building and large fields. With plenty of hard work and imagination, 12 years later Reclaimed World has become the retail space it is today.
Now working together with the second generation, Katie (daughter) and Phil (son-in-law) they are always developing the business and creating new shopping experiences for our customers that include beautiful showrooms and a Victorian shopping arcade.
Reclaimed World has grown into the fantastic business you see today. We are now travelling the UK and abroad to find beautiful and unusual pieces for our customers, interior designers, the hospitality industry and high street brands

Discovering the unfound
We carry a rich tapestry of items, each telling a unique story from around the world. Our hunt for exceptional heritage takes us to exciting places, including site clearances, salvaging from great buildings on the brink of demolition, and curated auctions to bring our customers a collection boasting authenticity and character.
In 2023 we started on a new journey and made the decision to travel to India in search of beautiful Indian furniture we could import directly to enable us to offer top quality and sustainable furniture at great prices for our customers. We went with the vision of finding original Indian furniture and to see our own designs manufactured and brought to life.
India is regarded as one of the best producers of top wooden furniture all over the globe. Subsequently, India is recognized to have a colourful and long history as far as wooden furniture industry is concerned.
While furniture manufacturing in India has obtained recognition from every part of the world, it is a bit rare to come across individuals who know the inner history and tradition of Indian Furniture.
Furniture making in India with the use of wood has been around since 1336 AD. Wooden furniture that is more than a hundred years old is living testimony to the quality. Temples and ancient buildings that showcase detailed and intricate architecture that bear proof of the workmanship.
Traditional Indian furniture is typically made from Teak, Ebony and walnut. manufactured furniture that we have design ourselves and made to the highest quality, this is typically made with mango wood.
The natural colour of mango wood is light to golden brown. However, mango wood is often beautifully discoloured due to ‘spalting’ — referring to the different colours wood can turn as a result of fungus. This effect is desired by artisans who work with wood. Mango wood also shows prominent grain patterns, similar to oak and mahogany. These are highly sought after when polished.
On our arrival to India, we were welcomed with open arms and we quickly fell in love with the Indian culture and way of life. As a result, we are pleased to have built a fantastic working and personal relationship with one of the best manufacturers of new furniture. With their huge contact base they can source us antique Indian furniture, original doors, arches that can be turned into spectacular mirrors and many other traditional and hand-crafted items.
We Buy Too
Through our ‘We Buy Too’ initiative, we actively seek individuals looking to part with their reclaimed gems, helping create a sustainable cycle that breathes new life into forgotten treasures. It’s not just about acquiring furniture; it’s about preserving history, embracing sustainability, and connecting people to resonating pieces.
Our efforts to find and transform antique items don’t just stop there – we’ve even brought our expertise to the small screen on Salvage Hunters, when we embarked on a journey where every item had a story to share.
