This unusual garden statue of a robed monk with matching pedestal has been beautifully cast from Cornish Farron stone with Cornish pewter and tin embellishments.
The folds of the monk's robe are particularly well moulded, and the pedestal is wonderfully decorative. The Latin inscription around the pedestal reads 'solitarius locus sanctus' (meaning solitary holy place).
There is no face within the cowl of the hood, which is hollow inside - we have noticed little birds flying in and out of the hole, eyeing it up as a potential nesting site! Alternatively the 'head' can be removed and there is space to store a spare set of keys.
