Persian pile wool Shahsavan rug. This is a handwoven rug, typically made by the Shahsavan tribe in northwestern Iran, known for its distinctive geometric designs and vibrant colors. These rugs are characterized by their flatweave construction, often using a jajim (a type of woven fabric). Shahsavan rugs are prized for their bold patterns, often featuring rectilinear medallions and improvised motifs, and their use of natural dyes.
