Khorasan Persian pile wool rug. These are hand-knotted rugs originating from the Khorasan province in northeastern Iran, known for their sophisticated designs and high-quality wool. These rugs are characterized by intricate, curvilinear patterns, often featuring floral motifs and the classic Herati design, which depicts fish in a pond. They typically have a cotton foundation and a plush wool pile, sometimes with silk highlights, and a knot density ranging from moderate to high.
